Gerard Fields Project

In 1997, a City Bond issue was passed by the voters allowing for $80,000 to be used for soccer field development. After an long exhaustive search, the WCSC Board selected a site near Oak Park. This land was owned by the Gerard family. The widow of Rene Gerard graciously sold it to the city of Bartlesville to use for soccer fields. Mrs. Gerard then donated $20,000 back to the city in exchange for naming the soccer complex in honor of the Gerard family.

A Field Development Committee was appointed with Ken Bray as the chairman. Other committee members included, Lewis Brost, Mike Corbett, Charlie Daniels, Dee Friend, Jack Lee, Randy Weatherly, Doug Lynch, and Dan Wieder.

The proposed layout for the Gerard complex is shown in the following image. The plan includes four lighted full size fields 90 yards wide by 130 yards long. This gives the flexibility of creating different size fields within those dimensions. In addition, these four fields will be lighted.

Parking for over 300 cars is proposed along with several practice fields. In addition, a concessions building, restrooms, and a maintenance shed are also proposed.
