A. Coaching Positions - The number of coaching positions available for the Competitive teams will be based on the number of Competitive teams, in age groups U11 through U19 for both boys and girls, which the WCSC Board determines is feasible for the coming Fall/Spring seasons.
The Competitive Coordinator will provide the following information to the WCSC Board prior to an announced Spring Board meeting:
1. Current number of Competitive teams in each age group for both boys and girls.
2. Current identification of each team's status as to pure or mixed age group.
3. Current Fall/Spring win/loss/tie record for each team.
4. Current Fall/Spring disciplinary record for each team.
5. Recommendation on number of Competitive teams with impact statement on Recreational league for coming Fall/Spring seasons.
Each potential age group will be discussed and voted on by the WCSC Board during this Board meeting, with a majority decision required for each approval.
B. Coaching Announcements - Based on the age groups approved from the Board meeting discussed in Section XIII,A, of the WCSC Standing Resolutions, the Competitive Coordinator will publicly advertise coaching positions available for Competitive League teams.
Each potential candidate must submit in writing, to the Competitive Coordinator, their coaching qualifications, reasons for submitting their name, and their approach to coaching a Competitive team. This written request for consideration to a coaching position must be received by an announced time.
C. Coach Selection - The Competitive Coordinator will provide any pertinent information to the WCSC Board at an announced Spring Board meeting after the deadline for receiving coaching requests has passed. This information may include:
1. Each candidate's request for consideration to a coaching position.
2. Feedback from parents and players on each candidate gathered by the Competitive Coordinator.
3. Feedback from other coaches on each candidate gathered by the Coaches Coordinator.
4. Disciplinary record on each candidate and his team from current Fall/Spring seasons gathered by Competitive Coordinator.
Each potential candidate for a Competitive team will be discussed and voted on by the WCSC Board during this Board meeting, with a majority decision required for each approval. The voting will be completed by secret ballot and counted by the Secretary and Competitive Coordinator. Results will be recorded and announced by the Secretary.
The Competitive Coordinator will provide written notification, to all candidates requesting consideration for a Competitive coaching position, of the Board's selections.
D. Assistant Coach Selection - The selection of one or more assistant coaches or managers is left to the discretion of the Coach selected for each team. The conduct of this individual or individuals is the responsibility of the Coach during both practice sessions and at games.
E. Competitive Coaches Meeting - There will be a competitive coaches meeting after the competitive coaches have been selected but prior to the beginning of tryouts. The purpose of this meeting will be to remind competitive coaches of pertinent GCSA rules, discuss tryouts, team formation, and playups with emphasis on the needs of the Club which take priority over the desires of one competitive team or another. All competitive coaches will attend this meeting.
