Section VII. RULES FOR UNDER 8s
A. BALL - A size three ball shall be used.
B. FOOTWEAR - Footwear must be of approved type (no protruding soles or toe cleats) and shin guards are mandatory.
C. TEAM COMPOSITE - A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 players (6 is optimum) shall be placed on each team.
D. RULES OF THE GAME - The USYSA 4v4 Official Laws of the Game shall apply except as noted below.
E. GAME LENGTH - "The game would consist of eight 6 minute periods. There
shall be a half-time break of five minutes between the
4th and 5th period.
*F. GOAL KEEPER - No goal keeper is allowed.
G. SUBSTITUTIONS - Substitutions are allowed during the breaks and at half time.
H. FREE KICKS - All free kicks shall be taken as indirect kicks with the opponent five yards away. There are no direct penalty kicks.
I. GOAL KICKS - Goal kicks shall be taken at either goal kick spot located 3 yards to the side of the goal and 3 yards into the field. All opposing players must be 5 yards away when the goal kick is taken.
J. OFFSIDE - There is no offside violation. It is strongly recommended that players not be "posted up" close to the goal. Players should be encouraged to play as though there is an offside rule.
K. FOUL THROWS - Players are given one re-throw after a foul throw-in.
L. TEAM MEETINGS - Teams may meet three times per week. Practice sessions shall be limited to 60 minutes. A game is considered a team meeting. The week begins on Saturday.
